Warriors three game win streak snapped by Mustangs in double overtime

Box Score Amanda Pereira scored both Western goals including the winner in double overtime as Waterloo's three game winning streak was snapped on Saturday at the CIF, in a 2-1 loss to the 'Stangs.

It was Waterloo's final regular season home game of 2016 and the Warriors looked like they were going to pull out another thrilling win but Western had other ideas.  Pereira tipped in a point shot with just over two minutes left in the second overtime to pick up the extra point.

Taylor Reimer (Morden) was excellent between the pipes for the black and gold making 24 stops, including a game saver just moments before Pereira's winner.  At the other end Katie Jacobs was even busier, facing 32 shots, stopping all but one.

Waterloo's lone goal of the game came off the stick of team leader Rachel Marriott (Waterloo), late in the second period. Carolyn Burke (Mississauga) and Amy Barnard (Cambridge) picked up the helpers.

The Warriors will close out 2016 on the road against Brock tomorrow looking for their ninth win of the season.  Waterloo is now 8-3-1 on the season, good for third spot in the OUA.
