Box Score It was a wild affair at the PAC on Friday night as Waterloo went to battle against Queen's in what almost always ends in a five set thriller. It was no different on this night as Waterloo came up just short in five with Queen's taking the fifth set 15-13.
Over 500 fans packed into the PAC to take this one in and the two teams did not disappoint as they went back and forth all night long. Waterloo took the opening set 30-28 before Queen's took the next two 25-17, 25-22 to take a 2-1 lead. Down but not out Waterloo found a way to stretch the game to a fifth set winning the fourth 25-23.Â
With the time ticking past 10:30pm, Waterloo took an 8-6 lead in the final set but Queen's knocked off the next four points to take a 12-8 lead and the gap was too much for the black and gold to reduce as Queen's got to the finish line just inches before the Warriors.
Braden Cok (Waterloo) led Waterloo with 16 kills while
Kevin LeBreux (Cumberland) had 13. Cok and LeBreux also had four blocks each in the match.Â
Jordan McConkey (Stratford) was also in double digits in kills with 11 on just 22 attempts. McConkey was an absolute beast at the net with eight blocks.
Defensively Cok had 13 digs while
Aidan Simone (London) brought up 11 balls.Â
Nikola Dimitrijevic (Mississauga) had 48 assists in the loss.
For Queen's it was Markus Trence who was hard to handle all night, finishing with a game high 18 kills while Joel Rudd and Zac Hutcheson put away 16 each.
Waterloo will look to snap their three game slide as they take on RMC tomorrow night at 8pm.Â
