Warriors come up empty handed in northern trip

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Warrior men's basketball team came away empty handed following two heart breaking losses to Laurentian and Nipissing on their northern road trip.  

On Friday, Waterloo fell to the Laurentian Voyageurs 77-70 and on Saturday gave up the lead late in a 68-65 loss to the Lakers of Nipissing.  

It was one tough quarter that cost the Warriors in their loss to the Voyageurs as the home side outscored Waterloo 29-13 in the second quarter.  Waterloo got a solid effort from rookie guard Dylan Phillips (Hamilton) who posted 19 points.  On the boards, Mike Pereira (Kitchener) was a beast with 23 rebounds, 15 of those coming on the defensive side of the ball.

On Saturday, the Warriors were seemingly in control of the contest fromt start to finish but the Lakers put up 30 points in the final quarter to sink the black and gold.  Jon Ravenhorst (Sarnia) put up 22 points going 5-for-13 from the field with three 3-pointers while hitting nine of 10 free throw attempts.  Ben Davis (Mississauga) had 15 while Muhammad Anwar (Mississauga) collected 12 rebounds in 24 minutes of action.

The Warriors will look to rebound on Wednesday when they return to the PAC for a tilt with the Western Mustangs.  Tipoff is set for 8pm.
