Box Score It was a contest the Waterloo men's volleyball team was eagerly waiting to play to erase the memory of tough news over the holidays and the Warriors showed just how resilient they are with a straight set win over Windsor. Waterloo controlled the match from start to finish earning their fourth win of the season.Â
Waterloo came out with a strong block game with stifled the Lancer offence as the black and gold cruised to take the set 25-19.Â
Greg Simone (London) took over in the second set dominating at the net to help Waterloo take a significant lead over the struggling Lancers. Waterloo also flexed their muscles from the service line forcing Windsor to make receiving errors. As a result, the Warriors took the set 25-17 and a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
Much of the same continued in the third and final set a Waterloo controlled the tempo, putting away 17 kills in the set. Windsor would rally late in the set but a seven point deficit for the home side was too much to overcome and Waterloo clinched the set 25-20 and match 3-0.
The victory was a strong team effort by Waterloo with
Greg Simone (London) leading the charge with 10 kills.Â
Braden Cok (Waterloo) had nine while
Aidan Simone (London) had eight while also adding an impressive five service aces. At the net,
Jordan McConkey (Stratford) was strong with three blocks.  Defensively,
Erich Woolley (New Dundee) led the way with 12 digs while setter
Nikola Dimitrijevic (Mississauga) had 34 assists in the victory.
Waterloo will continue to take it one game at a time, as they look to move up the OUA standings. The Warriors are now 4-8 on the season, two points behind Western, Nipissing and York who all have 10 points.
Waterloo will be back in action this afternoon against arch rivals Western in London. Game time is set for 3pm.
