Box Score Rachel Marriott (Waterloo) had a three point night (2g, 1a) and the Warriors improved to 5-3-1 with a big 5-1 win over the Ryerson Rams on Friday night at the Mattamy Centre. Waterloo scored early and often including four goals in a span of just of just three minutes to sink the Rams.
Hannah Street (Shoal Lake) opened the scoring for the Warriors with an unassisted marker at 8:48 of the first period. It was Street's first career CIS goal. Marriott padded the Warriors lead just 54 seconds later for her second of the year. The power play marker was setup nicely by
Marissa Redmond (Ajax) and Kailtyn McDonell.
Waterloo continued to pour on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded just two minutes in as
Tegan Odland (Enchant) netted what was her first career CIS goal as well to put Waterloo up 3-0.
Alison Hanson (Toronto) was credited with the lone assist on the goal.
Two minutes later, Marriott found her third of the season and second of the game to put Waterloo up 4-0.
Abby Dortmans (Kerwood) picked up the lone helper. Waterloo then made it a 5-0 game as
Siobhan Hewitt-Kenda (North Vancouver) put home her third of the season with Marriott and Dortmans earning the assists.
Unfortunately for Waterloo netminder
Rebecca Bouwhuis (Orillia), her bid for a shutout would be spoiled late in the third as Karfi Nummikoski made it 5-1 with just 31 seconds remaining. Bouwhuis finished the game with 25 saves.
Waterloo will be back in action tomorrow against the Toronto Varsity Blues at 5pm.
