Playing for the second time in less than 18 hours – with travel in between – the Waterloo Warriors likely had some weary minds and legs when they took on the Concordia Stingers on Saturday afternoon. But judging by the performance of Waterloo's top offensive duo, you wouldn't know it.

Colin Behenna (Waterloo) scored twice and added two assists, and Andrew Smith (Kitchener) pitched in with a pair of goals and a helper of his own, as the Warriors defeated Concordia 4-1 on Saturday Afternoon in Montreal.

The win takes the Warriors back to .500 at 4-4, and it snapped their two-game losing streak. Chris Hurry (Summerland), getting his fourth straight start in place of the injured Mike Morrison (Hamilton), made 21 saves in the victory.

Anthony Cortese scored the only goal for the Stingers in a losing cause. Goaltender Robin Billingham made 24 saves, as Concordia fell to 3-4-1 on the season.

After a scoreless opening period, the teams combined for only 10 shots on goal in the second. But two of those shots eluded Billingham: Behenna ripped one top-corner to open the scoring, and Smith poked one in on the doorstep to make it 2-0 Waterloo after 40 minutes.

In the third, Smith scored again to make it 3-0 before Cortese spoiled Hurry's shutout bid. Behenna salted it away with a short-handed empty-netter, rounding out the scoring on the afternoon.

The Warriors will now look for their first winning streak of the season when they travel down the 401 to take on the Toronto Varsity Blues next Friday night. The Warriors are back at home again a day later, when they welcome the Laurier Golden Hawks to the Columbia Icefield Arena.
