The Warrior field hockey team wrapped up their regular season action with a pair of games against Queen's and McGill on Saturday in Kingston.
In their morning match, the Warriors did not get the result they were looking for as the Gaels used their home field advantage to shutout the black and gold 3-0. The Warriors allowed two goals in 13 minutes in the opening half before surrendering one more in the 60
th minute.Â
Hilary Neeb (Wellesley) was given the loss in the contest.
The loss to Queen's meant the Warriors had to pick up two points in their match with McGill in order to qualify for the playoffs. Waterloo was able to do just that narrowly defeating the Martlets 3-2.
Stephanie Snyder (Waterloo) notched her third hat trick of the season in the win with goals in the 32
nd, 47
th and 54
th minutes while Neeb shut the door late to secure the win and a post-season berth for the Warriors. Snyder finished the year having scored 12 of her 14 team goals which was the fourth most in the OUA this season.Â
With the win, Waterloo improved to 5-6-1, good for fourth spot overall and will face the Guelph Gryphons in the OUA semifinals on Friday in Toronto. Match time is set for noon and you can catch the game live on www.oua.tv.
