Box Score Waterloo had a tough time scoring all game long and the Gryphons shot 48% from the field as the home side Guelph cruised past Waterloo 92-60 on Wednesday night.
From start to finish, the Gryphons were playing with high energy on Wednesday night at the W.F. Mitchell Athletics Centre.
Adam Kemp (Toronto, ON) got the game going with a great dunk as the team fed of the crowd in the beginning. Kemp would continue to dominate the Warriors down low as he would go on to score six of the first ten points for the Gryphons and the home side would lead 28-12 after the opening quarter.
The second quarter would not be any different as the Gryphons continued to dominate the Warriors. Adam Kemp would throw down another huge dunk over two Warriors to put the Gryphons up 15 half way through the quarter.
Daniel Dooley (Burlington, ON) and
Jonathan Wallace (Toronto, ON) would hit back-to-back threes with 2:30 left in the half, getting the lead up to 20. The Gryphons would end the half 51-28 and would look to keep the train rolling in the second half.
Quarter number three had the Gryphons dominating just like the first two. This time the Gryphons would be scoring by committee as everyone was in on the action. The scoring parade would be emphasized by another Adam Kemp dunk down low. Guelph would score 26 in the quarter, to take a 77-50 lead into the fourth.
The fourth quarter would settle down, as the defence would come back into the game. The Gryphons would hold their lead not letting the Warriors sniff at a comeback. Coach O'Rourke would let the bench take over half way through the quarter, as the Gryphons would cruise to a 92-60 win.
Myles Charvis (Mississauga) was the lone bright spot for the Warriors with 19 points in the contest and five assists.
The Warriors will be in tough once again on Saturday as they travel to Hamilton to take on the pesky McMaster Marauders. Tipoff is set for 8pm.
