Warriors close out season with loss to Marauders

Myles Charvis closed out his stellar rookie career with 28 points in the loss to McMaster
Box Score The Warriors came out guns a blazing in their final contest of the year against the best in the west, McMaster Marauders but dwindled down the stretch to fall by a score of 90-68.

Waterloo outscored the home Marauders 27-24 in the opening quarter led by rookie point guard Myles Charvis (Mississagua/) who had 17 points in the opening 10 minutes.

The Marauders were however able to right the ship and battled their way back into the game to take a 43-38 lead into half.

Playing with the lead McMaster continued to pick up their aggression forcing Waterloo into foul trouble and taking a 10-point lead into the final quarter.

Short bodies, Waterloo could not mount a comeback and McMaster proved why they are the sixth best team in the nation, outscoring the Warriors 24-12 in the final quarter en route to the 90-68 win.

Charvis led all scorers with 28 points going 10-for-19 from the field with three from beyond the arc.  The first year arts student had himself a stellar second half to the season and has shown great promise moving forward with the black and gold.  He finished the season with 308 points and a field goal percentage of 42.

Playing in their final game with the Warriors Matt Glibota (Sault Ste Marie/) and Wayne Bridge (North York/Eastern Commerce) both posted double digits with 13 and 10 points respectively.

For McMaster it was a complete team effort a combined 33 points from bench players Adam Prescutti and Leon Alexander.  Nathan McCarthy led his team in points with 23 in the victory.

Despite not making the playoffs, Waterloo showed they can compete with the top teams in the OUA west and will have something to prove once the 2014-15 season kicks off next fall.
