Box Score The Waterloo men's basketball team opened up 2014 on the right foot with their first victory of the season topping the Toronto Varsity Blues 86-80 on a rare Tuesday evening road game. The game was rescheduled after the Nov. 9 postponement and wraps up East vs West division play in OUA men's basketball regular season action.
Jaspreet Gill (Oliver/) was unstoppable for the black and gold with a game high 31 points going an impressive 10-for-15 from the field while knocking down five three pointer's. Gill was also 6-for-7 from the line and added three rebounds and four assists.
Matt Glibota (Sault Ste Marie/) was also a big factor in the win with 20 points with an equally impressive showing from the field going 7-for-11. The third year forward also collected six defensive rebounds in the victory.

Myles Charvis (Mississagua/) and veteran
Wayne Bridge (North York/Eastern Commerce) rounded out with Waterloo attack with 15 and eight points respectively.
Fifth-year guard Alex Hill of Toronto led the Blues with 28 points, while Dennis Ankrah notched his first career double-double of 12 points and 11 boards. Adam Plummer added nine points and nine rebounds, while Matt Savel also had nine points in the loss.
Hill held the hot hand in the early goings, notching eight of Toronto's first 12 points but Gill answered with 10 points of his own for Waterloo. Toronto held a 20-16 lead after the first quarter.
The Blues opened the second quarter on an 8-2 run and led 40-35 at halftime.
Waterloo, led by a combined 21 points between Gill and Gilbota, brought the game within one midway through the third. The two teams exchanged baskets from there and were deadlocked at 60-60 heading into the final frame.
The Warriors opened the fourth on a 7-3 run and a three by Charvis gave Waterloo a five-point lead (70-65). Despite a rally attempt from U of T, the Blues could not recover and dropped their sixth straight game.
With the win Waterloo is now 1-9 on the season but remain in the basement of the OUA west standings.
The Warriors will be back on the road once again this weekend as they fly out to Thunder Bay to face the always competitive Lakehead Thunderwolves for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday.
