Box Score The Waterloo Warriors fell to 2-12 on the season in a hard fought 87-77 loss to the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday afternoon at the PAC. The win keeps Guelph in a playoff spot with a 4-10 record while the Warriors remain tied in last with Brock.
Rookie
Daniel Dooley led the charge for the Gryphons with a season high 16 points for the first-year point guard from Burlington, Ont.
Taylor Boers,
Adam Kemp and
Trevor Thompson dropped 14 points for the Gryphons respectively in the victory as the men shot a strong 50.7% from the field compared to 43% from the Warriors. The Gryphons were the more dominant team on the glass as well, outrebounding the Warriors 37-24.
The Warriors were led by
Wayne Bridge (North York/Eastern Commerce) who scored a game-high 22 points while
Mike Helsby (Waterloo/) netted 20 for his team in the loss.
Jaspreet Gill (Oliver/) and
Myles Charvis (Mississagua/) were also in double digits with 13 and 10 points respectively.
As a team Waterloo shot 43.3% but could not keep up with Guelph who went 50.7% as a team to earn the 10-point victory.
The Warriors will look to bounce back on Wednesday when they make the short trip to Laurier to battle the 6-8 Hawks.
