Men's volleyball overcome slow start to top Gaels

James Evans had 18 kills in Waterloo's 2nd straight win to open 2014
Box Score After their routine victory over the RMC Paladins on Friday night the Warriors got off to a slow start but settled in to take care of the Queen's Gaels 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Kingston.  Waterloo now sits alone in second spot overall in the OUA standings with a 9-3 record.

The Gaels took advantage of the tired Warrior legs in the early going winning the first set 25-20 but Waterloo bounced back clipping the home side 25-23 in the second set.  The black and gold then cruised to the finish line taking the final two sets 25-13, 25-18.

James Evans (Rockwood) was a force for the Warriors tallying 18 kills on just 28 attempts while adding four blocks and one service ace. The fifth year left side was also strong defensively with seven digs.  Chipping in on the offence was Zachary Doherty (Goderich/) with 13 kills from the right side.

After having the night off, Scott Thomson (St. Marys/) was back to his old tricks with 37 assists in the contest while libero Erich Woolley (New Dundee/) dug the ball 16 times in the win.

For Queen's it was Mike Tomlinson who led the offence with 14 kills while also helping out on the defensive side with seven digs. Ivo Dramov led the Gaels defence with 11 digs, while Philippe Goyer chipped in with 11 kills and seven digs.
The Warriors will return to the PAC next weekend for a pair of games, first with York on Friday and then against Nipissing on Saturday.  Both games are at 7pm.
