After dropping their last four games the Waterloo baseball team was hoping to gain back their early season momentum in a double header with cross-town rivals Laurier. The Warriors would put a halt to their four game losing streak by taking the first of two games, 10-4 over Laurier, but would drop the second game 8-7. The split would even Waterloo's record at 9-9 on the season which puts them in fifth spot in the OUA standings.

Rynee Weppler (Walkerton/) earned his second straight win in Waterloo's opening game which saw the right-hander go six and one third innings allowing three hits and four runs. Michael Parrot finished off the Hawks picking up the final two outs.
The Warriors did most of the damage in the bottom half of the third putting up six runs on four hits.Â
Ben Tinklin (Kitchener/) led the way at the plate going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored while
Nolan Pettipiece (Burlington/) and
Kyle Thalheimer (Richmond Hill/) each had two hits. Craig Van Ooteghem hit the lone homerun of the game with a two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth to give Waterloo the insurance runs they needed for their ninth win of the season.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 6-1 lead after only two innings but the Golden Hawks chipped away with three straight multi-run innings to inch out the 8-7 victory over Waterloo in the back end of the double header.Â
Michael Parrot was the losing pitcher allowing three hits and two runs while Laurier's Andrew Ziedins picked up the win.
At the plate Thalheimer continued to swing a hot bat going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI while
Michael Clouthier (Guelph/) hit his seventh homerun of the season. Clouthier finished the day 2-for-2 with two walks and three RBIs.Â
Kevin Martin (Ottawa/) also had two hits in a losing effort.
The Warriors, who have played six games in the past four days, will play five of their final six games on the road starting with a 9-inning contest against Ryerson on Tuesday. Â
