Rynee Weppler (Walkerton/) pitched a complete game and the Warriors cashed in nine runs on their 11 hits to top the McMaster Marauders 9-3 on Tuesday evening at Jack Couch Park. With the win Waterloo improves to 8-4 on the season which puts them in a tie for second spot with Western two games behind first place Brock.
Weppler allowed 11 hits over his nine innings of action but was able to pitch himself out of jams when needed. The first year recreation and leisure student struck out two and only walked one batter to help him pick up his first third win of the season.
At the plate OUA athlete of the week
Michael Clouthier (Guelph/) continued his dominance going 2-for-3 with one homerun, two RBIs and two walks. Clouthier now has five homeruns in his last four games played. Also contributing to the offence was
Chris Georges (Pickering/) who was 3-for-5 at the plate including one home run and three RBIs.
The Warriors will now go on their busiest stretch of the season with six games in four days starting with their rescheduled games at Guelph this Thursday night. They follow it up with four straight home games at Jack Couch with Brock in town on Saturday and Laurier on Sunday.
