Boxscore

The Waterloo bats came out swinging in the opening two innings of the first game as the Warriors opened up a 9-0 lead.  The offensive onslaught was led by rookie first baseman Michael Clouthier (Guelph/) who went 2-for-3 with one walk, one homerun and an astounding four RBIs.  Also contributing to the offence was another rookie Kyle Thalheimer (Richmond Hill/) who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

The Varsity Blues made a game of it scoring three in the top half of the third and another five in the fourth inning but Waterloo was able to hold on for the 11-9 win to improve their record to 7-3.

Brandon Beattie (St. Catharines/) picked up the win in his five innings of action giving up eight runs but the early offensive support was enough for the senior starter.  Toronto's Ryan Donnelly was given the loss.

Game 2 – Toronto 7, Waterloo 6
Boxscore

In the backend of the doubleheader the Blues took a 5-0 lead and added singles in the fourth and fifth to merely slip past Waterloo by a score of 7-6.  For the second time in three games Waterloo made a valiant effort for a final inning comeback but came up short by one run once again.

Clouthier was once again a beast at the plate going 2-for-3 with two home runs and five of Waterloo's six RBIs.   The first year kinesiology student has been named Waterloo's male athlete of the week for his tremendous week at the plate with a .600 average while knocking four balls out of the park in just three games played.

Chris Ryan (Waterloo/) also had a strong day at the plate for the Warriors going 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

Jay Flannigan (Cornwall/) was charged with the loss going two and one-thirds allowing three hits and five runs.  Marek Deska picked up the win for the Blues.

With the loss Waterloo dropped to 7-4 on the season and sit alone in second spot in the OUA standings a game and a half back of the first place Brock Badgers (9-3).
