The Warriors bid for a fifth straight victory was put to a halt on Tuesday evening as the Western Mustangs topped Waterloo 10-9 in a wild affair at Jack Couch Park.
The Mustangs took a 10-3 lead into the final two innings but the never-say-die Warriors began to mount a comeback scoring one in the bottom of the eighth and five more in the ninth but would run out of outs and drop the contest.
With the loss Waterloo fell to 6-3 on the season while the Mustangs improved to 4-3. Rookie first baseman
Michael Clouthier (Guelph/) continued to swing a hot back and went 2-for-4 with a homerun, double, two rbi's, and two runs scored. Also having a game at the plate was
Kyle Thalheimer (Richmond Hill/) going 2-for-4 adding one rbi and one run scored.
Starting pitcher
Brandon Beattie (St. Catharines/) was given the loss allowing four hits and six runs in his four innings of action.
Waterloo will look to shake off the loss and get themselves back in the win column this Saturday when they travel to Guelph to face the Gryphons for a doubleheader. The black and gold then return home on Sunday for another double dip with the Toronto Varsity Blues at Jack Couch Park.
