Box Score The Warriors put forth a determined effort against a hot Guelph Gryphons team but fell short as the visiting side shutout Waterloo 1-0 for their 14
th straight win.
The Gryphons finished the season with a 21-3-2 regular season record, good for second in the OUA standings, just one point behind the Golden Hawks, while the Warriors sit at 9-13-3 with one game remaining.
Averi Nooren (Alymer, ON) scored the game-winning goal for the Gryphons in the second period at 16:35, with Jenna Lanzarotta (Mississauga, ON) earning the assist. Stephanie Nehring (Oshawa, ON) earned the shutout, making 16 saves.
Rebecca Bouwhuis (Orillia/) (Orilla, ON) went the distance for Waterloo this afternoon and stopped 27 of 28 shots.
Waterloo had several quality chances to even the score late in the game but could not solve Nehring.
The Warriors are traveling to Kingston today to play a rare Monday afternoon game as it was rescheduled due to inclement weather on Friday night. No matter the result the Warriors will face the Laurier Golden Hawks in the opening round of the OUA playoffs starting on Wednesday February 13
th at the Memorial Rec Complex, 7:30pm. Game two is scheduled for Saturday, February 16
th at the CIF Arena, 2pm.
