Box Score Every time the Waterloo Warriors got up off the mat on Friday night, the Ottawa Gee-Gees knocked them back down.

Twice Waterloo cut the deficit to one goal, and twice the Gee-Gees restored their two-goal cushion less than a minute later, leading to a 4-2 triumph over the visiting Warriors in the nation's capital on Friday night.

The victory was Ottawa's seventh in a row, pushing their record to 8-5-0 on the season. Conversely, the Warriors dropped their second consecutive game, as their record falls to 5-6-1. Warren Shymko made 22 saves in the Gee-Gees net to earn the win, while Mike Morrison (Hamilton/) turned aside 28 shots in the Warriors' loss.

The first period was all Ottawa, as the Gee-Gees outshot the Warriors 15-5 and outscored them 2-0. First, Mathieu Guertin dragged the puck to the inside and rifled a wrister top shelf over Morrison's glove to make it 1-0 Ottawa just past the 13-minute mark. Moments later, Andrew Creppin went bar-down on Morrison to double the Gee-Gees lead through twenty minutes.

The Warriors responded on a second period man advantage when Justin Larson (Buckhorn/) converted a Colin Behenna (Waterloo/) feed on the doorstep to make the score 2-1. But in the first of the Gee-Gees' two quick responses, Alexandre Touchette banged home a loose puck on a goalmouth scramble to make the score 3-1 Ottawa after two periods.

It looked, albeit briefly, that Josh Woolley (Cambridge/)'s first goal of the year could cue a Warriors comeback, as it made the score 3-2 at the time. But 22 seconds later, Paul Landry capitalized on what would be the game's final goal, making the final 4-2 in favour of the Gee-Gees.

The Warriors will now travel into Quebec to tackle the McGill Redmen on Saturday night in Montreal. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 pm.

Notes: The Warriors went 1-for-3 on the power play, while Ottawa went 0-for-10…Defencemen Ryan Molle (Calgary/) and Sam Caldwell (Cape Breton/) didn't make the trip due to academic commitments…versatile winger Greg Steffes (Amherstburg/), who played on the blue line most of last season, played his first game of the season on the back end.
