Box Score The Laurentian Voyageurs outscored the Waterloo Warriors 30-8 in the final quarter to earn the 67-49 comeback victory, spoiling the home opener for the black and gold.
Waterloo scored the first eight points of the contest and opened up a 14-2 in the first five minutes but the Voyageurs chipped away and found their shooting stroke in the final quarter to earn the victory on the opening night of OUA women's basketball.
Danielle Harris led all scored with her 18 points while adding three rebounds and four steals. Erin Simpson was also a factor on the offence with 15 points.
For the Warriors it was rookie
Kristen Osborne (Markham/) impressing in her debut with 15 points with nine of those coming in the first half.
Marti Killeen (Oakville/) was the next best Warrior with 9 points.
Waterloo came out firing in the opening half playing solid defence and knocking down key shots as they took a 27-21 lead into half.
The Warriors continued their hot shooting early in the third quarter as
Madison Behr (Ancaster/Dundas Dynamo) would hit her second 3-pointer of the game to give Waterloo the 32-21 edge. From there it would be Harris who would ignite the visiting side with five straight points to get her team back in it.
Adrienne Moreau would also get it on the action with a 3-pointer of her own to bring Laurentian to within four into the final quarter.
After the two combatants exchanged baskets Laurentian would take over the game with three minutes left in the game. Down 47-44 the Voyageurs would go on a 15-0 run with Harris and Simpson leading the charge and the Voyageurs would not look back en route to the 67-49 win.
Waterloo (0-1) will re-focus ready to play a full 40 minutes tomorrow when they host the newest addition to the OUA, Algoma Thunderbirds at 6pm.
