The Warriors picked up their second win of the season and first on home field after defeating the Brock Badgers 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Warrior Field.
It was Waterloo who held most of the pressure in the early going and the Warriors would be rewarded off a corner kick fired home by
Tara Butterworth (Waterloo/) her second of the season. Brock would tilt the momentum back in their favour in the late going of the opening half but keeper
Kala Studens (Sault Ste. Marie/) would keep it a 1-0 lead into the break.
The Warriors would again come out with jump in the second half and 15 minutes in second year forward
Emily Deckert (Kitchener/) would pot her first career goal in the black and gold. The Deckert goal in the 60
th minute gave Waterloo a comfortable 2-0 lead but Brock had other ideas.
Only three minutes later the Badgers cut into the Warriors lead on a goal by Kelly Miller, her third of the season. Brock would continue to pour the pressure on but the Waterloo defence would stand tall and keep the Badgers off the board to pick up the 2-1 win.
Deckert was named the Waterloo player of the game while fifth year midfielder Lindsay McDonald earned MVP honours for Brock.
The Warriors will be back in action again next Sunday when they welcome the UOIT Ridgebacks (4-5-2) to Warrior Field for a 1pm kickoff.
