Dods nets pair in win over Badgers

Box Score Captain Katie Dods (Kemptville/) found the net twice in only her second game back from injury to lead the Warriors to a 3-1 win over the Brock Badgers on Sunday afternoon.  With the win the Warriors got their record back to .500 (3-3-1) and sit in a tie for sixth spot in the OUA while Brock remains winless (0-7-0) on the season.

Rebecca Bouwhuis (Orillia/) earned her third win of the season stopping all but one of Brock's 30 shots while Jenna Sosnoski gave up two goals on 32 shots in the Brock net.

After a scoreless opening frame which saw Brock outshoot Waterloo 13-5 the black and gold found their legs and took control of the game from the start of the second.  Marissa Redmond (Ajax/) found the net 1:32 into the period on a beautiful individual effort for her first of the season.

Dods opened up a 2-0 lead for Waterloo 13 minutes later also on her first tally of the season.  On the goal defenceman Michelle Tanel (Toronto/) recorded her first point as a Warrior earning a helper on the play.

The Badgers cut into Waterloo's lead two minutes later as Laura Neu continued the day of first's with her first marker of the season.  After 40 minutes Brock trailed Waterloo 2-1.

Bouwhuis and the Warriors stood tall in the third and kept Brock out of the dangerous areas while Dods potted an empty netter to secure the 3-1 win.

The Warriors will host the Queen's Gaels next Saturday before starting a five game road trip that starts up north against Nipissing and Laurentian.
