Upset Special: Warriors knock off two-time defending champion in OUA semi's

Ally Kocukov, player of the game against Queen's had another strong game in Waterloo's 2-0 win over Toronto
The fourth-seeded Warriors produced the upset of the season, knocking off the previously undefeated Toronto Varsity Blues by a score of 2-0. The Gryphons posted their victory over the Western Mustangs by the same score in the second semifinal and the two combatants will meet in tomorrow's final at 12pm played at York Stadium.

Waterloo will play in the final for the first time since 2004 – the Warriors lost that game 5-1 to the Varsity Blues – while the Gryphons will go for their first title since 2010. They have played in each of the last two finals as well, settling for the silver each time. The championship game will begin at 12pm at York Stadium and will be preceded by the bronze medal contest between Toronto and Western.

Waterloo's forward Stephanie Snyder (Waterloo/), who was recently named an OUA all-star scored both goals for the Warriors, the first in the 22nd minute off a corner and the second just five minutes later on a penalty stroke for the only goals of the game.

The Varsity Blues, who were the two-time defending OUA champions and went 11-0-1 in the regular season, controlled play for most of the second half while they tried to get back into the game. Toronto had numerous scoring opportunities but could not capitalize on its chances before time expired.

The win is Waterloo's first over Toronto since 2003 and avenges a pair of regular-season losses in which they were outscored 12-0 by the Blues.
