Rebecca Bouwhuis (Orillia/) stood tall between the pipes as the Waterloo Warriors put a halt to UOIT's four game winning streak with a 2-1 road win. Waterloo improves to 2-1-1 on the season while the Ridgebacks fell to 4-1-0.
Marriott's first career goal in the black and gold came late in the opening frame on the power play with
Marissa Redmond (Ajax/) and
Carolyn Burke (Mississauga/) picking up the helpers.
The Warriors padded their lead early in the second with assistant captain Kaitlyn McDonnell finding twine at 4:43.
Rebecca Rutherford (Ajax/) was given the lone assist on Waterloo's second goal.
The Ridgebacks would get one back at the 15:34 minute mark in the second period with Samantha Forchielli putting one past Bouwhuis to make it 2-1 into the second intermission.
UOIT would outshoot Waterloo 12-8 in the final frame but Bouwhuis turned aside every shot to preserve the Waterloo victory. Overall the Ridgebacks outshot Waterloo 35-22.
The Warriors will look for their second straight win tomorrow in Toronto when they take on the York Lions.
