The visiting Brock Badgers came from behind in the second half to grab a 72-68 win over the Waterloo Warriors.
Waterloo took the early lead in the game and exerted good defensive pressure to contain Brock's shooters. At half time Waterloo had a 32-18 lead, while each team struggled from three, hitting a combined 2 of 25. In the first half Brock hit just 24% of shots.
In the third quarter, Waterloo extended the lead early to as much as 17 points. But runs of 9-0 and 8-0 by Brock made the difference just a single point after three at 47-46 for Waterloo.
Waterloo came out in the fourth and regained a lead of as much as 7, but could not stop the Badgers. From a score of 56-49 with 7:38 remaining, Brock hit the next 8 points to take their first lead in the game and out-scored the Warriors 23-12 to close out the game. Jameson Tipping went 6 for 6 from the free throw line in the final 14 seconds to seal the win.
For the Warriors,
Jaspreet Gill (Oliver/) led all scorers with 27 points, while grabbing 10 rebounds.
Kyrie Coleman (Washington/) was the only other Warrior in double figures with 17 points. Brock was led by Mark Gibson with 21 points and Jameson Tipping with 18.
Next game for Waterloo is a trip down the street to visit the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. Game time at WLU is 3:00pm.
