Box Score The Waterloo women's hockey team was shutout 2-0 by the visiting Windsor Lancers on Sunday afternoon at the CIF. In a rematch of a game played in November, the Lancers got their revenge playing solid defence throughout the contest.
With the win, Windsor is 11-8-2 on the season and continues to remain in fifth place in the OUA standings. Waterloo (6-11-3) remains in the eighth and final playoff spot with 15 points, just two ahead of ninth place York.
The Lancers jumped on the board late in the opening period, scoring with just 0:38 second left in the frame. Krysten Bortolotti accepted a pass from Natalie Barette, and caught Warrior goaltender
Rebecca Bouwhuis (Orillia/) off guard to score her sixth of the season.
The score remained unchanged until early in the middle stanza when Lancer captain Alyssa Baldin put Windsor up by two at 2:50 of the period. Jenny MacKnight and Courtney Spoors were credited with the assists.
Goaltender Karlyle Robinson was solid between the pipes making 24 saves to earn the win.
Rebecca Bouwhuis (Orillia/) was as impressive for Waterloo stopping 29 of 31 shots faced but did not get the offensive support she needed for the win.
The Warriors return to the road next Friday for a game against UOIT in Oshawa before returning to the CIF to face the York Lions. Waterloo will certainly have four points on their mind in those two contests.
