Coleman tallies 27 points in loss to Gee-Gees

Kyrie Coleman had a game high 27 points in Waterloo's final regular season game of 2012
Box Score The Waterloo men's basketball team stuck with a very solid Ottawa Gee-Gees team on Saturday night at the PAC but fell short by a score of 82-72.  For three quarters the Warriors went basket for basket with the visiting Gee-Gees but had a short lapse in the third quarter that cost them the game.

Waterloo was better than the Gee-Gees from the field going 25-for-54 (46.3%) compared to Ottawa's 41.8% but Ottawa managed three more from beyond the arc which turned out to be the difference.  Ottawa was also a stellar 81% from the free throw line.

With the win, Ottawa is tied for second overall in the OUA east with a 7-1 record while Waterloo heads into the exam break winless at 0-7 and sit alone in the basement of the west.

The Gee-Gees were led by third year guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (Ottawa) who had 22 points with three 3-pointers while going 6-for-7 from the line.  Forward Gabriel Gonthier-Dubue (Gatineau) was also a big factor in Ottawa's win with 17 points.

Fourth year forward Kyrie Coleman (Washington/), with great fan support in attendance, was on fire knocking down a game high 27 points.  Coleman was 11-for-15 from the field while adding five from the charity stripe.  Denham Buchanan (Toronto/) chipped in with nine points while Wayne Bridge (North York/Eastern Commerce) had eight in the loss.

The Warriors will now prepare for their Christmas tournament at the University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM) before turning their attention to OUA west competition in the New Year.  Waterloo opens up with a double header against Lakehead on Friday, January 4 and Saturday, January 5.
