Four unanswered goals pushes Warriors past Lancers

Game Summary

The Waterloo women's hockey team continue to put up points in the OUA standings, this time it was two following a 4-2 win over Windsor Lancers on Saturday afternoon in Waterloo.  The Warriors scored four unanswered goals to come back from a 2-0 deficit midway through the second period.

Waterloo improved to .500 on the season with an 8-8-3 record only one point back on the Lancers who sit at 9-9-2 following the loss.

Rookie goalie Rebecca Bouwhuis (Orillia/) continued to make a statement to earn an OUA all-star nod stopping 35 of 37 shots faced for her seventh win of the season.  Lancers goalie Karlyle Robinson (St. Catharines, Ont.) allowed three goals on 22 shots with the other marker on the empty net.

Jane Gaffney (Ottawa, Ont.) opened the scoring three minutes into the second period following a scoreless first as she slipped one past Bouwhuis to give Windsor the 1-0 lead.  The Lancers captain Candace Rapchak (Stoney Point, Ont.) put her team on top 2-0 with a shorthanded marker.  Rapchak's ninth of the season was assisted by Bree Polci (London, Ont.).

With Waterloo down 2-0, Sarah Wolfe (Waterloo/) cut the Lancer lead in half with her second of the season, an unassisted goal.

Kelly MacLean (St. George/) would even the score eight minutes into the third period with her team leading 10th of the season before rookie Victoria Bertrand (Port Elgin/) found the net for her first goal as a Warrior to give Waterloo a 3-2 lead.

The Lancers continued to pepper Bouwhuis who was equal to the task making big save after big save.  Kelly Toms (Ennismore/) added an empty netter to seal the Warrior victory and continue their push into the post-season.

Waterloo will look for their second straight win tomorrow afternoon against the Western Mustangs at the icefields.  Puck drop is set for 2pm.
