The Waterloo Warriors played their first home game of 2012, and the result was similar to other games in January. A strong start by the Warriors was thwarted by a collapse at the end and the visiting Brock Badgers defeated the Warriors 87-63.
Waterloo's eighth straight loss dropped them to 4-9 on the season while maintains fifth spot in the OUA with a 8-5 record.
To start the game the Warriors had the first five points and extended the margin to 23-8 at the first quarter mark. Waterloo didn't miss much and Brock was standing around watching them shoot. But in the second, Brock would overcome the entire gap, taking a one point lead before Waterloo would finish with a single point lead at half time, 33-32.
The teams traded some threes to start the second half, keeping the score close. Brock however would finish the third quarter strong, going on a 15-9 run to take a three quarter lead by five, 57-52.
In the fourth, Waterloo ran out of steam and Brock poured it on, outscoring the Warriors 30-11 in the quarter and coming away with a 24 point win.
Jameson Tipping led the Badgers with 25 points, with Tshing Kasamba adding 18 points. For the Warriors,
Zach Angelini (Hamilton/St. Thomas More) had 14 points, with
Mike Wright (Burlington/Assumption) hitting for 13.
Cam McIntyre (Kitchener/Kitchener C.I.) finished with 10 points, putting him 6th on the all-time Warriors scoring list.
