Game Summary
The Warriors continued to roll with their third straight win upsetting the No. 5 Guelph Gryphons on Saturday afternoon at the Gryphon Centre Arena. With the win Waterloo improved to 4-6-0 on the season with three of their four wins coming on the road while Guelph dropped to 6-2-1.
Guelph opened the scoring 18:02 into the first period when senior
Jacalyn Sollis (West Vancouver, BC) potted her second of the season on assists from rookies
Adrianna Prosdocimo (Brampton, Ont.) and
Talia Paone (Ancaster, Ont.).
In the second period, the Warriors tied up the game with a marker from
Sarah Endicott (Toronto/) 4:24 minutes into the period. The Warriors earned their second of the period when
Liana Tennant (Kitchener/) put one home at 15:31, to close out the period with a 2-1 Warrior lead.
With just eight minutes left in the contest the Warriors doubled their lead with a powerplay goal from
Lindsey Ceaser (Owen Sound/) for her third goal of the season and to secure the upset victory.
Caitlin Brydges (Ariss/) and Endicott provided the assists on the Ceaser goal. Waterloo rookie goalie
Rebecca Bouwhuis (Orillia/) played outstanding in the final frame as the Gryphons turned on the heat and outshot Waterloo 11-4 but couldn't get on the board.
Bouwhuis finished with 24 saves while Gryphon netminder
Brooke Siddall (Windsor, Ont.) made 17 saves. Warriors centre
Kelly MacLean (St. George/) added two assists in the game and leads the team in scoring with nine points.
Waterloo will face the Gryphons again in their next action as they look for their fourth straight victory on Thursday, November 10.
