Men's volleyball improve to .500 with come back win over Blues

The Waterloo Warriors improved to .500 on the season with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-17) win over the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday night at the Athletics Centre Sports Gym in Toronto.

With the win Waterloo improved to 2-2 and sit in fifth place in the OUA while the Blues dropped to 1-3 for eighth place.

Fifth year outside Cameron Wheelan (Barrie/) once again led the attack for the black and gold notching 18 points in the game including 16 kills and two blocks.  Wheelan was also strong defensively with 12 digs in the match. 

Second year outside Fiodar Kazhamiaka (Waterloo/) also added to the attack with 12 kills, one block and one service ace while adding a team high 14 digs.  Setter Scott Thomson (St. Marys/) continued his precise set-up's with 39 assists in the game.

For Toronto second-year leftside hitter Jake Dysselhof of Mississauga, Ont., led the Blues with 15 kills, while fourth-year veteran Mitchell Woodside (Clyde River, P.E.I.) had 11 kills, seven digs and two blocks on the night.

Waterloo returns home next weekend with a pair of games as they battle the RMC Paladins on Friday night (6pm) followed by the always challenging Queen's Gaels on Saturday at 7pm.
