Warriors sweep Paladins, battle Gaels live on SSN tonight

The Waterloo Warriors moved above .500 with a straight set victory over the RMC Paladins on Friday night at the PAC Gym.  The black and gold led from start to finish to improve to 3-2 on the season while RMC fell to 0-6.

All three sets started much the same with both teams battling at the net but each time the Warriors would pull away from the Paladins cruising to the set victory.

Set scores were 25-19, 25-25 and 25-14.

Rookie outside hitter Zachary Doherty (Goderich/) saw some quality court time and made the most of it with 10 kills, leading all players in action.  James Evans (Rockwood/Warriors) chipped in with six kills while Alex Poldma had five while adding four service aces.  Second year setter Kevin Wiseman (Sudbury/Sudbury Stars) was solid for the Warriors with 29 assists in the match.

For the Paladins fourth year outside Tyler Leknois (Kingston, Ont.) led his team with seven kills and two blocks for nine points.  Middle Thegne Rathbone (South Slocan, B.C.) had five kills in the loss.

The Warriors turn their attention to this evening's match against the Queen's Gaels as part of Warrior night.  The game can be seen live on the Streaming Sports Network (SSN Canada).
