The Warriors women's soccer team put together another strong 90 minutes of football on Wednesday afternoon shutting out the Brock Badgers 1-0 at Warrior Field.
With the win the Warriors moved one point ahead of the Badgers for the sixth and final playoff spot with a 3-5-4 record. With the match being the final of the season for Brock they cannot catch the Warriors who have a total of 13 points.
The Western Mustangs at 10 points will need to win their final game of the season and have Waterloo lose their last two in order to catch the Warriors and take over the final playoff spot as they hold the tie-breaker.
Waterloo forward
Kaitlyn Barnett (Kitchener/) gave Waterloo the exciting victory at the 92
nd minute as she headed the ball in a goal mouth scramble past the helpless Brock keeper Luciana Di Paolo (Newmarket, Ont.).
Warrior keeper
Lesia Bandura (Kitchener/) did the rest making timely saves including a sprawling save in the first half to keep the score at 0-0. Bandura made six saves for her fourth shutout of the season.
Waterloo has now earned a point in their past five games going 3-0-2 over that stretch to climb the standings. The Warriors look to continue their momentum into the final weekend of the regular season as they face the McMaster Marauders on Friday, October 21 in Hamilton (6pm) and Guelph Gryphons on Sunday, October 23 (1pm).
