The Laurier Golden Hawks outshot the Warriors 42-17 en route to a 3-1 win on Sunday afternoon at the CIF arena in Waterloo.  Warrior netminder Martina Michaud (Etobicoke, Ont.) stood on her head making 39 saves in the game but was beaten three times by the highly skilled Laurier offence.

Following a scoreless first period, the Hawks of Laurier opened the scoring as Allanah Wakefield of Pickering, Ont., fired a shot past Michaud on the power play.  The Hawks went 1-for-5 on the power play while Waterloo was 0-for-6.

Forward Brittany Holland (Lisle, Ont.) would respond three minutes later to even the score up at one on her fourth goal of the season.  Karen Vanderhoek (Burlington, Ont.) picked up the lone assist on the goal.

The Warriors looked content to sit back and play solid defence in the third period but the powerful Laurier offence woke up and scored two unanswered goals to take the two points.  Vanessa Schabkar (Etobicoke, Ont.) scored an unassisted goal at 6:41 of the third which stood up as the game winner while Caitlin Muirhead (Waterloo, Ont.) added the insurance marker.  Laurier goalie Liz Knox (Stouffville, Ont.) stopped 16 of 17 shots for the win.

Waterloo will play their next four games on the road starting with a trip to Toronto to face the Varsity Blues and York Lions next Saturday and Sunday.
