Warriors earn first victory of season over Brock

The Warriors dropped a close contest to the York Lions on Saturday afternoon 1-0.  Sonia Sampogna (Toronto, Ont.) scored the only marker on the afternoon in the 18th minute.  Rookie Eugenia Acosta (Cambridge, Ont.) continued to impress at midfield but was unable to put one past 2009 first team all-star Sarah Fiorini (Newmarket, Ont.)

The Lions picked up their first win of the season, while Waterloo was still in search of their first win heading into Sunday's match up with Brock.

Still looking for the elusive first victory, the Warriors would find it at the foot of Delta Pilote(Brantford, Ont.) who scored her first goal of the season in the 73rd minute of the match.

First year keeper Lesia Bandura (Kitchener, Ont.) stood on her head securing the win and earning her first shutout for the black and gold.  Bandura continues to show her stellar keeping skills with alumni standout goaltender and Waterloo goaltender coach Catherine Vanderburgh developing her into a young star.

With the win the Warriors (1-3-1) move into fifth spot.  Next up, the Warriors travel to York to avenge their loss against the Lions on Wednesday, September 22, 1:00 pm.
