Cam McIntyre (Kitchener, Ont.) hit for 42 points, including a team record 11 three pointers, to pace the Waterloo Warriors to a 90-76 home win over Ryerson on Saturday night at the PAC. McIntyre rounded out his 42 point night going 13 for 21 and was perfect from the line (5 of 5).
Waterloo had a much better start on Saturday, going up 12-4 before a nine point Ryerson run gave them a short-lived lead. The Ryerson combo of Jahmal Jones and Ola Adegboruwa provided the scoring in the second quarter as Ryerson entered the half with a four point lead at 37-33.
In the third, the Warriors quickly tied the score and 25 points by Cam McIntyre (Kitchener/Kitchener C.I.) in the quarter gave the Warriors the lead for the rest of the game. Over a stretch of 5:17, McIntyre hit five threes, two other field goals and three free throws.
For the night, Waterloo hit for 53% from the field and out-rebounded the Rams 33-24.
Brendan Smith (Kamloops, B.C.) was the other Warrior in double figures with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Jahmal Jones would lead the Rams with 23 points on the night and Ola Adegboruwa added 17 points.
With the win, Waterloo concludes the East-West cross-over portion of the OUA schedule with a 4-4 record and is in sixth place in the OUA West standings. Waterloo now has a break from play for exams and holidays. The Warriors are back in action Dec 28-30 at the Ryerson Tournament. League play resumes Wednesday, January 5 with a home game against Brock.
