Golden Hawks sweep Warriors

The Warriors dropped to 2-5 on the season following a 3-0 loss to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday afternoon in Waterloo.  Despite being swept, Waterloo was in every setting making the Hawks earn their fourth win of the season who now sit at 4-3 on the season.

The Hawks won the first two sets by the close score of 25-22 and won a nail-biting third set by a score of 31-29.

Leading the offensive attack for the Warriors was second year outside hitter James Evans (Rockwood, Ont.) who had 15 kills and 5 digs.  Rookie hitter Fiodar Kazhamiaka (Waterloo, Ont.) had another solid game raking up 10 kills, 3 digs and added a serving ace.

The top performances for the Golden Hawks came from the middle man Matt Polley (Port Perry, Ont.) who hit for 12 kills out of 18 attempts and chipped in for four assisted blocks giving him a total contribution of 14 total points.  Greg Houston (Chatham, Ont.) hit the ball extremely well, adding 10 kills, three digs and two total blocked shots while the team setter Erik Kroman (Etobicoke, Ont.) had to be pleased with his playing as he positioned the volleyball well for 35 assists.

Waterloo have the rest of the weekend off as the prepare for back to back home games next weekend against Windsor (4-3) and the undefeated Western Mustangs (6-0) on Friday and Saturday evening at the PAC.
