Waterloo ousted by Mustangs in OUA Baseball semifinals

The Western Mustangs defeated the Waterloo Warriors 4-2 at Labatt Park on Friday evening in the OUA semifinals.

Waterloo scored two runs in the first inning on hits by Craig Van Ooeteghem, Chris Ryan (Waterloo/), Mike Glinka (Kitchener/), and Thomas Biskup (Markham/) to take an early 2-0 lead. Mustang pitching tightened up after the first by shutting down the Warriors the rest of the way.

Western scored single runs in the first, third , fifth and sixth innings to secure the victory. Starter Anthony Douris (Newmarket/) lasted 4-1/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits in picking up the loss. Reliever Adam Lentz (Calgary/) gave up one run in two and two third innings of relief.

Offensively Mike Glinka (Kitchener/) and Jason Diniz-Wood led the way with two hits each and OUA all-star Thomas Biskup (Markham/) picked up a hit and an RBI.

The Brock Badgers defeated the Western Mustangs the next day in the OUA Championship game.
