Heading into this weekend's OUA Championships as the top ranked 60m runner Onyemah had one goal in mind for his individual event, the 60m, and that was to capture the gold medal. Before he could top the podium he had to safely get through the prelims and semi-finals.

On Friday he ran an easy preliminary heat finishing well ahead of his competitors with the fastest of all heats in a time of 6.85. The semi-finals took place Saturday morning where Onyemah ran a relaxed race showing everyone that he was the clear favourite as he cruised to a time of 6.86 easily advancing to the final. Later that afternoon the men took to the blocks for the 60m final, the most anticipated race of the day. Initially being called as the disqualified athlete for false starting, Onyemah ran under protest and still remained focused running his own race to take the gold medal in a time of 6.79. After an appeal was made and video was reviewed the DQ was overturned and Immanuel was reinstated and crowned the winner!
Along with gold in the event he is also named an OUA All Star, surpassed the U SPORTS auto qualifying time again and remains undefeated in the 60m over the past four meets. His season's best time of 6.77 ranks him 4th heading in the U SPORTS Championships and aiming for a medal.

Immanuel will also lead the men's 4x200m relay at the U SPORTS Championships.

Onyemah's positive attitude and team oriented leadership was infectious all season creating a supportive environment for all team members, a critical movement for a young team with many years ahead of them.
