Jörg Ahne (Merseburg, Germany) saved his best performance of the season for the biggest OUA stage winning the gold medal in the long jump event. Ahne hit a jump of 7.17m on his first attempt, putting him in a great spot to medal. With some of the pressure lifted from a great first attempt, Ahne went for it on his second attempt and soared to a new varsity record of 7.42m, which won him the gold medal by 27cm over any other competitor. Ahne is ranked first heading into the U SPORTS Championship in two weeks’ time. Ahne also had the fastest split in the 4x200m relay race, which earned a fifth place finish and a spot at the National Championship.
