Third year skip, John Willsey (Orillia, Ont.) was outstanding for the Warriors men’s curling team this past weekend at the OUA Championship hosted by Algoma in Sault Ste. Marie and was named an OUA first-team all-star. Willsey led his team to a 6-1 record in pool play and then upset the 3-time defending champions, Laurier in the OUA quarter-finals, stealing one in an extra end for the 5-4 win. Willsey would eventually go on to lead his Warriors to an OUA bronze medal while qualifying his team for the U SPORTS Championship, March 24-28 in Leduc, Alberta. It is the second time in three years Willsey will be heading to the national tournament as the skip.
