The captain of the Warriors, Joanna Meltzer (Georgetown, Ont.) had a stellar week of volleyball totalling 42 kills, three service aces and 56 digs over three matches (14 sets) played. In a 3-1 loss to Laurier, the second year outside hitter led all players with 12 kills while adding 15 digs and two assisted blocks. During weekend play, Meltzer continued to shine in a close 3-2 loss to Brock, knocking down 17 kills, two service aces and showing strong defence with 23 digs. In their final match of the weekend, Meltzer was the leader once again as Waterloo upset the Ottawa Gee Gees in five sets. She led the attack with 13 kills and gave her team the energy needed to mount the comeback victory.
