Jorg Ahne (Merseburg, Germany) of the track and field team opened up the 2016-17 season in golden fashion placing first in the long jump at the Guelph Tenke Classic, season opening event.  Ahne leapt 7.15m in his final attempt to win the gold while also reaching the automatic qualifying distance required for nationals, making him the first Warrior to book their ticket to Edmonton in March.
