• Doug was a multi-sport defensive star. He played defensive roles on both the football and hockey teams for four seasons from 1962-1966
• Doug received “The Honour of an Outstanding Athletic Career” award in 1965. At the time it was the highest honour an athlete could receive at Waterloo
• Doug was the recipient of the Letterman’s Award in 1965 for hockey and football
• Throughout his tenure at Waterloo Doug received six Honours Letters (3 football/3 hockey), a total of eight honour crests, and was the founding member of Athletics Letterman’s Club
• Doug graduated from Waterloo in 1966 with a Bachelors of Physical Education and Bachelor of Arts in Latin
• Doug left Waterloo and went on to teach and coach at the High School level where he was acknowledge many times for his contribution to High School athletics in the Toronto area
